Adrian makes life better! She teaches Tai Chi with a very positive attitude and a sense of humor. She tailors her lessons to the needs of her students, and I have benefited a great deal from those lessons. I look forward to my medical check-ups and blood work, so I can see the improvements in my health. I have seen improvement in my kidney function and blood sugar control, both very important for a diabetic, and my outlook on life has soared! I look forward to every class, and to continued enjoyment of the results. Many thanks to Adrian!
As an arthritis patient, I have noticed a significant decrease in joint pain along with an impressive increase in mobility, as well as a decrease in sciatica back pain, from the techniques Adrian has taught me. I honestly don't know where I would be without her. I went from having quite a bit of pain to being almost 100% pain free. My quality of life is vastly improved!

Highly recommend Adrian's Tai Chi classes as she has been an amazing instructor!! Adrian has been very accommodating, thorough and very patient as my coordination when learning new things can be challenging at times. I’ve been a personal trainer for 9 years and have done various martial arts over 10 years so I’ve worked with my share of good AND bad coaches/trainers and can honestly say Adrian is among the best !

“18 Months ago, canes, walkers and scooter were my way of getting around. Then I met Adrian and now the scooter and walker are in the garage covered up. I keep the cane handy and even use it once in a while. After all, I am 86 years old and arthritis is a cruel companion. I’m feeling better than I have in years. I love Tai Chi and Adrian for teaching me that I can get better!"

"I had to wear glasses and my family, for generations, suffered from eye issues. Adrian started us about 3 years ago, well right after I started taking Tai Chi, and she did the facial massage then she went to the eye massages. So, I started doing the eye exercises everyday and sometimes I would do them twice a day. I had a weepy left eye and it wasn't from allergies or something like that. Since doing these exercises, my eye has really improved. The last time I went to the eye Doctor, he said, "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!", because I have no cataracts and my left eye has improved over my right eye. So since Adrian taught us Tai Chi exercise, I keep doing it.
Sometimes I let the dog out, maybe around 2:00 AM; he gets up and barks and I let him out. I sit in my chair waiting for my dog to come back in and I do my eye exercises. I didn't tell the Doctor what I was doing, but he encouraged me to keep doing it since my eyes, in his opinion, were getting a definite improvement and not to have cataracts at my age is great. I would encourage people to do these and am happy that Adrian showed us these eye exercises."

It is my pleasure to support Adrian VanKeuren’s application to the American Tai Chi and Qigong Association for certification as a Level III Tai Chi Instructor. It has been my pleasure to know Adrian for the past several years, first by reputation as a well-respected and highly regarded teacher of Tai Chi, then directly as my instructor, and now also as my student studying medical qigong.
I can attest to personal knowledge of Adrian having taught Tai Chi in excess of the 2000 hours of experience required for certification at this level with the ATCQA, as well as many additional hours assisting me with instructing qigong as part of her medical qigong education. Her acumen as a skillful and patient teacher reflects the seasoning of several years educating people in these arts, inviting and encouraging group progress while concurrently attending to each individual’s optimal learning style. She is a gifted instructor. And like all great teachers, Adrian continues to be an avid student of Tai Chi, to all her students’ benefit. With over 4 decades experience as an educator, I like to think I’ve developed a keen sense of what makes a great instructor and that I choose my own teachers well. I certainly believe I’ve done just that with Adrian.

In September 2018 I was seeing a chiropractor because I was experiencing immobility of my upper body and neck. A young woman, Adrian VanKeuren, was teaching Tai Chi at the practice and the chiropractor suggested I might benefit from one of her classes. The class was presented as therapeutic Tai Chi which was perfect for my aging body.
Over the past 5 years I have regularly participated in multiple classes under Adrian’s supervision (often as many as 3 per week). As an instructor Adrian is skilled at performing and explaining how to do Tai Chi exercises and, more importantly, she takes the time to explain why and how the exercises benefit the different parts of our body. She is very patient with her students as we strive to make our bodies cooperate.
During Covid, Adrian conducted her classes via Zoom. Though not as enjoyable as in person instruction, she was quite successful at teaching new exercises which included Qigong. Many of the breathing exercise have become my favorites.
The benefits I have achieved from Tai Chi classes include better mobility, good balance, better mental health (meditation), and an overall sense a wellbeing. Tai Chi has become a regular part of my life and I rarely miss a class.

I have been a Tai Chi student of Adrian VanKeuren since August of 2019. I've been attending two or three 90 minute classes per week.
She is an excellent Sifu with a passion for what she is teaching. She gives individual attention to the needs of each student while collectively guiding the Chi Flow of the group. Her teaching style comes from her desire to share the benefits of Tai Chi and the recent QiGong she has been sharing with us.
Her love of the subject and her students is evident in the joy she takes when we achieve new milestones. Personally she has given me a gift that I will use and share for the rest of my life.

“Since taking Adrian’s Tai Chi class (every Thursday morning for a year over a year now), I still find myself looking forward to each class.
I enjoy her clear descriptions of the basic idea of movement and I appreciate her use of imagery which really helps get a better idea of what to aim for (and how to get into and out of movements). Her mention, from time to time, to remember to “tuck your tailbone” allows for a better experience.
I feel grateful to have such an experienced teacher. Her calm voice and clear instructions have inspired confidence – I am so glad that we found each other and enjoy each other every week.”

"I was dealing with a deteriorated knee, which is more annoying then painful. I had just finished a series of medical treatments for my knee that were disappointing and left me considering a full knee replacement surgery.
Adrian asked if I was willing to try distance healing, immediately I visualized a phone session that would include a “mind over matter” power of suggestion conversation since we were miles apart. You also need to know that I’m a skeptic as well as a seasoned investigative journalist.
Adrian sent me this text:
“All you need to do is relax and be open. I’ll send good energy, and then text you when I’m done. You might fall asleep, depending. I’ll let you know any impressions afterward.”
I didn’t know what to do except to lay down and try to relax. I cleared my mind and tried to visualize something like” a Vulcan Mind Meld” link with her. Then, I just deiced to lay on my side taking “mindful breaths”. I was feeling very tranquil and started to feel the hair around my knee rising and I am not exaggerating. Apparently, I dozed off and was awaken by a text from Adrian informing me that she just finished up and noticed some energy blockage that took her a while to smooth out and to let her know if my knee is less stiff in a day or two.
I texted her back that I did actually doze off, told her about the hair raising experience on my knee and the fact that I got up without having to limp off the stiffness in my knee that was the most chronic. The next day after my first Tai Chi Distance Healing session I felt great, especially since I hadn’t slept more than 5 or 6 hours since going back to work as a teacher doing in-person teaching with pre-school students who keep me on my feet. I rested well having slept over 8 hours the night of receiving the distance healing work and had a remarkable dream that left me feeling clear headed enough to really focus on helping others, at least without the distraction of not resting well.
Don’ delay in getting distance healing work done. It really works and made a big difference for me."

“Adrian's knowledge and experience are quite evident the minute she starts class. It doesn't matter if you are a new student or advanced. She takes the time to show you the proper movements, without making you feel singled out. If you have a physical impairment, not to worry, Adrian will make adjustments so that you can participate and get the maximum advantage from her Tai Chi classes. She welcomes everyone, and always with a huge smile!”

I have been taking Tai Chi & Qigong classes with Adrian VanKeuren for a number of years now. I appreciate her easy style of teaching; she is patient, explains things clearly and practices what she preaches. She has a rare ability to connect with her students. In her teaching style, she doesn’t criticize, but corrects gently with humor and encouragement that make the student want to do better. Her classes are very enjoyable and filled with solid Tai Chi and Qigong teachings.
I’m overweight but doing Tai Chi has put me in better shape than I have been in years. I had issues with balance, flexibility and high blood pressure. Things improved to the point where I could do very deep squats, bend in all directions and easily stand on one leg without stumbling for over 30 seconds at a time and that made me very happy! Taking Tai Chi and Qigong has brought my blood pressure back toward the normal range, increasing my circulation and affirming my sense of Chi flow. My ankles are stronger and I can stand for long periods of time without issues. I credit this to doing the “Chi Kung Breathing” exercises, the weight shifting in doing the “Bear” exercises and various parts of the “Yang 37 Posture Short Form” movements.
A few years ago, I had eye issues that included a detached retinal wall. After eye surgery, my vision saw things in a flat or oblique view which was very disconcerting to say the least. Adrian taught us various body exercises that included eye exercises. I did these daily and they improved my vision in the affected eye where I could see nearly normally again.
I feel that Tai Chi and Qigong that I have learned from Adrian has rejuvenated my body. I feel healthier and more agile than I have 20 years ago as a much younger person. I have learned to listen to my body, learning to give it much healthier foods, meditate to relieve stress and relax, and through various “Breathing” techniques that Adrian has taught in her classes, better oxygenate my body.
I would recommend anyone who has mobility, circulation, or balance issues take classes with Adrian. She will bring out that youthful spirit in them again.

"A few years ago, I began taking Tai Chi classes at the Tai Chi Dojo in Winchester, VA, under the guidance of Sifu Victor Franco. At the time I stumbled onto Tai Chi, I had been suffering from chronic Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses, plus mold and heavy metal toxicity for over 8 years. My diagnosis included chronic Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). I was also told at the age of 25 that based on the tremors I’ve always had that I would be diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease by the time I was 40 unless something happened to change things. At different points in time, I found myself bed or homebound, and was unable to provide daily care for myself.
After starting to take Tai Chi, it took me about 3 weeks to discover I felt a LOT better on days I went to class, despite the struggle of getting up early. I had more energy, less pain, and was better able to focus and get things done for myself.
I asked one of my teacher's senior students to practice with me; and at that point, my teacher took me on as a personal student in hopes I would be able to teach Tai Chi to other chronically ill people. The hard work began. I spent 4 hours in his regular classes, plus another 2 as a personal student at the teacher’s dojo. The teacher added Saturday morning beginner's class, so I started practicing 8+ hours a week with him, plus countless emails, writings, etc. on Tai Chi philosophy, plus having access
to the teacher’s extensive library.
I stopped all "Lyme treatment" around shortly thereafter, making daily Tai Chi practice, a holistic lifestyle, and energy work (from Tai Chi practice) my only form of treatment. I learned meditation and primary energy pathways, and the importance of energy work.
After a short time of continuous Tai Chi practice, most of my symptoms had disappeared. I still had some fatigue (that was always alleviated with more practice), some pain, and light sensitivity. But most of the pain and muscle weakness had gone after just one year of Tai Chi practice."
